Behind me with your chosen electrical devices
with curiousity meeting in your mind
and glances under the brim of a hat
you were always made of such perfect design

Will it blend?

We got three bags of corn chips from the supermarket a few days back that were devoid of flavouring. While waiting for vouchers to turn up for new bags of corn chips, I did an experiment to see if I could salvage edibility out of some of the kilogramme or so of less-than-salsa-flavoured chips.

So, after using a bowl-and-mug due to lack of mortar-and-pestle, I remembered that I own a food processor. This allows me to turn large corn chips into small flakes quite quickly. Adding in pasta sauce and nuking it for a while to soften, this has left me with... well, something. It's kind of like couscous in texture, but corny. And going fairly well with the tomato and basil sausages I picked up down at the local butcher this morning.

Could probably use a little bit of something tart, like vinagrette and diced cucumber. Or the Chilean pebre I picked up from a place near Pasadena when I was visiting there. That stuff was damned good - kind of like a South American pesto.

Stomach calls. Ingestion ensues.

"destined for greatness"
Because within me, there's love as infinite as the universe.
Within me, there is faith as impossibly real as the universe.
Within me, there is desire as strong as the universe.

Job huntin'.

  • Nov. 6th, 2009 at 10:51 PM

Now that I'm officially unemployed and not just another uni student, obviously I've been looking for work. A psyc assessment firm recently advertised a temp position involving admin and light assessment work for a suitable psyc student/graduate. Since I'm suitable for nothing in particular, this job was as good as any, and I need a filler between now and Canberra.

My résumé was sufficiently plumped with exaggerated work history to get me past the screening to some online testing - a verbal reasoning test and an Excel test. I found the verbal test unusually difficult. With the Excel test, I didn't know what the hell I was doing so I just looked through the menus until I found a word that matched what the instruction asked for.

Anyway, I had an interview today. It seemed to go okay. I was given my results and was sufficiently chuffed. I performed at the 100%ile (!) for graduates on the verbal test and the 95%ile on the Excel test (though I don't know the comparison group for the latter).

I'm supposed to find out by Wednesday of next week. Here's hoping.

Youtube Channel...?

  • Nov. 7th, 2009 at 6:39 PM
Hey, has anyone here ever set themselves up a youtube channel?

I'm going to be doing one soon, but I can't figure out how to get it done. I'm also going to have to be doing one for work, so I really need to figure it out.

I would just like to announce this slightly controversial and rigid statement:

I hate most men
I hate their fingertips and I hate their words
and how they make me feel.

Call me guarded, cynical, or just plain rude
that's the conclusion I've come to feel.

Killer iPhone Apps.

Alright - listening to ABC radio this morning (Adam Spencer on 702 AM) he was discussing the Republic issue.

But the fun thing that they got on to was that you can download the Australian Constitution as an iPhone App, for free.

People started calling in, saying "Yeah, I've got it. It's really usefule when you get into an argument with your mates about politics at the pub.", or "Yeah, I'm a law student. When I found that, I said 'Great! One less book I have to carry!'"

But then - for teh TPK win - someone wrote in an SMS:

"Well I have the Australian Constitution, the American Constitution, the Declaration of Human Rights, the Geneva Convention, and the Magna Carta on my iPhone. Frankly, I think it's a little narrow minded to have only one of those documents in your phone."

Now THAT's almost reason enough for me to get an iPhone.
Anyone know if you can download similar APPs for an ANDROID phone?

I don't know how many old Garou players still read this journal, but the announcement at ICC that White Wolf will now allow people to play their old games again seems to have inspired a renewed interest in Apocalypse, and ended up with me being convinced I should run it.

If anybody is out there, who would play in such a game and who would be interested in participating in a brainstorming of what they'd like to see in such a game?
